200 NEW MEDICAL SCHOOLS &

 BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH CENTERS

We run our education of doctors very badly. Many medical schools no longer require the Hippocratic Oath. You know, it begins with "First, I shall do no harm. . ." Now why would a doctor not want to take that oath? Seriously, this is not a joke! This goes to the heart of our problems.

The common practice of working our interns for hugely excessive numbers of hours on end is so incredibly stupid that I cannot bear to talk to the administrators of teaching hospitals. When I consulted to the military forty years ago, I crusaded for more sleep for intelligence operatives. For more than 60 years, research has conclusively shown that mental performance decreases exponentially with sleep deprivation.

Worse, these idiot teaching hospital administrators claim the long hours are so that the interns learn more! The opposite is true. Sleep deprivation dramatically reduces both short term and long term memory retention. Put so that even a hospital administrator can understand it, lack of sleep reduces the ability to learn. Now, if the people running the education of our doctors cannot even understand what I learned forty years ago, would you agree we need a change?

Finally, I am offended by the manners and attitude of many of the new young doctors that I meet. They have so much trouble comprehending that they work for me. My favorite doctor is from India: he actually listens!

Each of our 20 new green cities shall have a free medical and nursing school at its heart, combined with a free teaching hospital and world class biomedical research complex populated with hundreds of our new 21 year old PhDs in every science and engineering specialty imaginable. Together, with the creativity that is maximum with youth, they will create thousands of biomedical miracles that will catapult America to the biomedical leadership of the world. And make us rich by selling it.

The medical schools will strictly limit the hours of interns to maximize their learning ability and mental acuity.

Each student who has his or her life enriched forever with free medical training, will have to partially repay their debt to society with two years of national service, to be determined at that time in light of what our nation needs then.
