NEW GREEN CITIES
Our existing cities are
a mess. New Orleans and Boston are glaring examples. New Orleans
will be a continuing disaster and gigantic expense until someone
bites the bullet and says it is stupid, actually insane, to rebuild below sea level at
a time when oceans are rising. Boston's Big Dig, which cost
billions of dollars in over-runs, coupled with leaks, driver deaths and damages, shows the
futility of rebuilding old cities to enable expansion when the
cities are
too
overcrowded and hemmed in by bodies of water and other natural
obstacles.
At a time when our
environment is on the brink of collapse, America should have,
actually, we must have planned growth designed to accommodate the changes in our use of energy, climate
change, and quest for healthy lifestyles.
In the next ten years,
Communist China will construct 100 new cities, with a population of
more than a million people in each city. Can't America at least
do one fifth of China's achievements? We are not inferior, are we?
